Participants begin to gather and a buzz of excitement and anxiety fills the room. Teams are gathered from around the country each adorned in brightly colored t-shirts proudly announcing their new team name. On the edge of their seats, teams anxiously await to learn the rules of the Adventure Challenge.
Rules are distributed and the teams are briefed. They have three hours to complete the Adventure Challenge. The winner will be the team that earns the most revenue. Seems easy enough, but this isn’t about speed. It’s not the fastest team that wins, but the smartest team!
Teams engage in 5 different problem-solving activities each lasting 40 minutes. The objective is to quickly strategize and solve the exercise in the most efficient way possible. How many teams will jump right into the task? How many teams will look at the bigger picture and then proceed? Who is the real team anyway?
The race clock keeps ticking as teams maneuver from one activity to another. Hard earned revenue is lost if they show up late to an event! Tension builds as passports are stamped, revenues are collected and teams race to the finish. Each team moves forward confidently.
The clock stops as teams’ race back to the finish line. Passports are collected to tally final revenue totals. Anxiously waiting for the judges to reveal the winners, teams review their race performance with laughter and disbelief. And the winners are?
